So I have finished reading Artemis Fowl and I am currently working on decoding he message at the bottom of the pages. The book itself is good. Eoin Colfer really takes an old subject like fairies and leprechauns and gives it a new twist. However the book is a little adolescent in it’s nature, I suspect Colfer is trying to copy the success Ms. Rowling has had with Harry Potter by appealing to young people without offending their parents. The plots are compelling and original but the action is subdued. Colfer makes fun of himself by playfully catching himself before any vulgarities are written, trying to give the piece and off the cuff feel. All this aside I must say that I do recommend this book not only to children middle school and younger but also to adults who are looking for a quick read that is also entertaining. While it’s not Shakespeare it is surprising the amount of emotional attachment that we feel towards the title character. Eoin gives us hints that Artemis has not yet revealed his true nature we shall see as Artemis grows up how he handles the responsibility of his knowledge of the People.
Ruff Dawg Rock Dog
I really enjoyed this book but had to put it down a few times due to the graphic nature of some of the incidents. I would recommend it to a friend with a warning: “not for the faint of heart.” I guess it was so hard to read because I know most of it could have been true. The author did a great job in her research on the time period.
Columbus Or the Discovery
When I started reading ‘Artemis Fowl’ I didn’t know what to expect. I had just heard it was a popular series with tweens and young teens, but had heard little beyond that. At first I wasn’t too impressed, I found all the LEPrecon stuff a little too cute. But once Artemis sets his scheme in motion with the kidnapping of Holly, the book really picks up steam. In essence, ‘Artemis Fowl’ is a very good heist story, but one with fairies, trolls, dwarfs and 12 year old criminal masterminds. A lot of fun.
Perspectives in Christian humanism
This is a really fun series that blasts off right out of the gate. Good for kids 9 and up I think. It’s alot lighter than Harry Potter.
The Listener in the
About 10 years ago, I began getting ingrown whiskers on my neck from shaving. Not only did they not feel good (they’d itch, and were sensitive) but they looked horrible. The front of my neck was red, and I would have horrible red and white bumps all over the skin where whiskers would curl and grow back down into the skin. I was totally self concsious, because it looked horrible. The only thing I could for the longest time was pluck them with tweezers. That took a lot of time, and digging into my skin to pull the hairs was very uncomfortable, and really didn’t work that well. I tried switching to an electric razor with little success. I could not have a close shave on my neck without getting the horrible ingrown hairs.
I searched the web for months to try and find something that would work. I found some advice for a few different things, but none worked. I finally ran across a website of a distributor that was selling Tend Skin. By that point I wasn’t sure anything would work, but I was desperate for something, so I bought it. I am SO glad I did. It really works when you use it as directed, and you see results by the time you have to shave again.
I apply Tend Skin with a cotton ball or pad to my neck after I shave and dry my face. I will then apply it again in the evening, and repeat each morning and night. It does not take much at all. I always buy the largest bottle for fear that one day Tend Skin will disappear! If you have ingrown facial hair from shaving, you NEED to get this. It is the only thing that I have found the works, and I am 100% happy with it. It is rather pricey, but I never hesitate to buy because it is worth every penny to me.
The only small “complaint” I have about it is that it smells just a tad funny to me. My wife says it smells fine to her, so I don’t worry about it. I wonder if they could make it with a slightly nicer smell – or none at all. It really doesn’t matter, though, because Tend Skin is AWESOME and I don’t know
Tend Skin for Men
This was a simple story but for some reason it kept my interest. I put it off for a year or so, despite many recommendations by others. I just kept thinking “oh, another story about slaves from their perspective”. But it was written in such a wonderful way that my interest was piqued in the first few chapters and I was hooked. A book you will NOT regret reading. Which can not be said for many that are on the bestseller list. Look at the review proportions (mostly fives) compared to other so called best sellers. Also, this has staying power on the bestseller list. Enjoy!

I read somewhere you should never spend more than $10 for a HDMI cable. I have NO complaints with this one.

I was skeptical about installing this on three machines AND getting a free Office 2010 upgrade on each installation, but it’s true! I already have 3 laptops in my house running Office 2010 off of this one purchase. It’s not immediately obvious how to get the upgrade, although it’s quite simple – just go to

My pug is a double shedder and leaves a trail of hair behind everywhere he goes. The furminator really works!!! Forget brushing. Doesn’t work. This is what you need.
