I’m going to go out on a limb here. Let me get right to the point: This is a terrible book.

Harsh? Maybe, but that’s how it is. About the time Artemis Fowl hit the market, I heard it claimed that Eoin Colfer was 14 when he wrote it. On some simple checking of dates, the claim seems unlikely (he was 36 when it was published). But the book is so badly written that it’s believable. If this was fanfic, everyone would be pointing at the protagonist and shouting “Gary Stu! Gary Stu!” (If that doesn’t ring any bells, try looking up “Mary Sue” instead.) The descriptive style … well, what can one say about the descriptive style? Phil Foglio uses some very similar characterisations in his Myth books. (Compare Guido and Nunzio to Fowl’s butler, for example.) The difference is, Foglio is writing humorous — and occasionally risqué — parody (and doing a good job of it) … but Colfer is serious. And it just doesn’t work. The characters are cardboard and flat; the plot is predictable and stereotyped, and yet manages to strain even a teenager’s willing suspension of disbelief with its excesses of “But wait, there’s more.”

Granted, this is supposed to be “young adult” fiction. But so is Harry Potter; and the qualkity of writing and plot development in Harry Potter are so far above Artemis Fowl that there’s scarcely any comparision. I know if anyone had given me a copy of Artemis Fowl when I was a “young adult”, I’d have been insulted that they thought my reading level was so low.

Your pen starts moving on its own and tells you it’s God and you believe it? Are you kidding me? Gullible much?

If there is a God, then this isn’t Him. If there is a Satan, then he’s definitely a ghost author here.

Even with an open mind, this book killed more brain cells than I could afford. God already wrote a love letter that explains His heart. It runs from Genesis to Revelation. Check it out some time.

I was so excited to get this bag – I’ve gotten a lot of Luvable Friends items in the past and have been very pleased with all of them. I love the size as I hate big, bulky bags, and this one is perfect – I love the way the top opens and the pockets are all convenient and easy to access. I put a few things in it and set it aside to use the next day to go to the doctors.

On the way in we noticed the straps were both starting to loosen from where they were sewn. On the way out, my husband picked up the bag by the strap and it came right out of the seam, leaving the bag on the floor. It was sewn in so that it frayed the strap material – it should have been folded over and then sewn. It was so disappointing and embarrassing standing there with a brand new diaper bag in one hand and the strap in the other.

I did manage to fix it easily – on the one side there’s a velcro strap over the one side pocket – I slid the plastic piece from the strap over that. Then on the other side I sewed it to the inside of the other side pocket, (folding it twice first), and with it being there it helps hold things in that side pocket also. I’m actually very pleased with how it turned out and I like the strap coming from the pockets better than the top anyway.

Other than the 5-10 minutes in having to repair it – I still am very happy with the bag, and it was a good deal.

Have been able to use it for cycling also. I can now know the milage of some of my favorite running routes and more accurately keep up with my weekly milage for training.

This little guy is great. I have not had a problem with it falling out of my pocket, as I clip it with the meter inside my pocket, and attach the other clip to a belt loop. I would have liked to of had a manual reset button on the unit, but that is the only thing I would change. With this meter, I have set goals, and am really starting to get into the walking and enjoying it. All I can say is “Get It” you won’t be sorry.
Schwinn Adult Traveler Helmet

Had my GPS on the windshield, but everytime the weather got to hot the GPS would fall off. This Garmin Portable Friction Mount is very nice and easy to pack away when I leave the car. Stays in place and easy to manage. I love it.
Inspiring Thoughts for Gardeners

“The Help” is our book club selection this month. I hope everyone enjoyed the book as much as I did. One of those “I hated to see it end” books. I wanted MORE as the characters all embarked on new directions in their lives and the narration ended.

I ordered another iPod this one for my other daughter. I figured since my first purchase was great this one would be too and I was not disappointed. Thanks for putting smiles on my girls faces. Means the world to me, not to mention the prices are excelent. Thanks again.
