This item only cost a couple of dollars — a fraction of what I’d pay in a store. It works just as well as any other $30+ HDMI cable I’ve purchased. I’d definitely recommend it.
Worries at the Summit
Well, I finally broke down and realized that our cheap little Shark + Dustbuster wasn’t going to cut it, so I called my friend who is crazy about vacuuming and asked her to recommend an inexpensive model. She checked her old issues of Consumer Reports and gave me some options, both with a bag and bagless. In the past, I’d used a bagless vacuum but found emptying the chamber just produced another mess of dust and dirt to clean up, so I decided to go with this Hoover. I’ve had this vacuum for about a month and so far, no problems. I’ve used it on carpet and hardwood floors with success. Like any upright, it is slightly awkward to vacuum stairs but it wasn’t unmanageable and it worked well.
I bought it from Amazon because it was the best price I could find. Although the email from Amazon said that it would not ship for over a week, I actually received it in less than 3 days. A great surprise.

So I have finished reading Artemis Fowl and I am currently working on decoding he message at the bottom of the pages. The book itself is good. Eoin Colfer really takes an old subject like fairies and leprechauns and gives it a new twist. However the book is a little adolescent in it’s nature, I suspect Colfer is trying to copy the success Ms. Rowling has had with Harry Potter by appealing to young people without offending their parents. The plots are compelling and original but the action is subdued. Colfer makes fun of himself by playfully catching himself before any vulgarities are written, trying to give the piece and off the cuff feel. All this aside I must say that I do recommend this book not only to children middle school and younger but also to adults who are looking for a quick read that is also entertaining. While it’s not Shakespeare it is surprising the amount of emotional attachment that we feel towards the title character. Eoin gives us hints that Artemis has not yet revealed his true nature we shall see as Artemis grows up how he handles the responsibility of his knowledge of the People.

This harness give me more control over my small but rambunctious schnauzer. She didn’t want to wear it at first because she knew she would lose control, but after repeated wearing she has come to accept it. The clasp is a little hard for me to maneuver but I manage. I do recommend it.

In 1963, the movie audience had already experienced the new kind of psychological horror movie born with the great PSYCHO. Francis Ford Coppola’s attempt at matching that horror is greatly inferior, of course, but as an exercise in mental terror, it works on its own subliminal level. The wonderful Luana Anders starts out the film virtually murdering her rich husband, and then tosses his body in a pond, telling the family he’s off on a business trip. She wants his Mama to change the will to include the in-laws. As in PSYCHO, Anders is dispatched early in the film in a very surprising way, and although it can’t touch Janet Leigh’s demise in PSYCHO or Angie Dickinson’s in DRESSED TO KILL, it packs a wallop. From there on in, it’s time to figure out who the nasty killer is. It’s fairly easy to pick the killer out, but there are some wildly frenetic scenes before getting there. Bart Patton and Patrick Magee provide excellent support and one can detect the future genious of Coppola in this atmospheric thriller.
